VOCABULARY UNIT -8

PERSONALITY ADJETIVES
Jealous: full of a feeling of resentment or anger about someone's success, achievements, advantages.
Competitive: relating to competition.
Vain: overly proud of or concerned about one's own appearance, qualities, achievements.
Lazy: unwilling to work or perform effort, activity, or exertion; indolent
Proud: feeling pleasure or satisfaction over something thought of as bringing credit or honor to oneself
Stubborn: unreasonably unwilling to change; unyielding.

PHRASAL VERBS: 
I get on well with my parents most of the time and I think we have a good relationship . When
I have a problem, they are the first people that I turn to for help. For
example, if people at school pick on me, they will always be very sensitive and
helpful. My parents also put up with me when I´m moody or lazy. Luckily, we
don´t fall out very often, but when we do, we make up and forget about it
quickly! I really look up to them and respect them, but there´s one thing that
really annoys me. My mum always tells me off when I do something wrong, even for
small things like leaving my shoes in the wrong place. The worst thing is that
she tells me off in front of my friends . It´s so embarrassing.What should I do?

FUNCTIONAL LANGUAGE

Talking about food:

FUNCTIONAL LANGUAGE

I´m happy to...
That sounds like a good plan/ great idea.
Thats works for me/ doesn´t work for me.
That´s not a bad idea, but how about...?
That could be a bit difficult. What about...?
How does that sound?
Do we allagree?
Is veryone happy to go with that idea?




R- Ok so we need to get a birthay pressent for Julia, we could buy her a book becouse she loves reading.
T- No becouse she´s got a lots of books .
C- Lets buy a lipstick. She loves make up very mutch.
T- That is very cheap.
R-I think so, why don´t we buy a new tracksuit?
C-No I think she needs a new scooter, she´s got an old one.
T- Ok, thats work for me.
R-Do we all agree?
T-Yes I agree it´s a good idea!
C-Yes thats sound find!
T- Ok there is a good skate shop near here lets buy it!

Saving up: put mney aside or accumulate it.
Bargain: something that is good value or it's a discount.
Soap Opera: TV, radio: drama serial.
Brand: Make, trademark.
Union Jack: United Kingdom national flag.
Newsagent's: Shop that sells newspapers and sweets.
Afford: you can pay something.
Waste: use inefficently.

SELF-ASSESSMENT

  • In this therm at English class I've learned a lot of new things. Before, I didn't know the meaning and spelling of some words (confident, plot, homeless, to shovel snow...) and now, in Michael and Isabel's classes I know a lot of new volcabulary that is very usefull. I like most of the classes, but I think that my favourite one it's when we talked about "Black Friday" with Michael. I love languages, but English specially, and I think that my best part of it, is to compare things. Outside english class I talk with an american friend on Internet. Also I,ve talk with a french one when we don't know how to say a word in french or in spanish. I need to improve in the new irregular verbs, because I have to study them a little bit more. In these months I've learned a lot of culture of every place, like Ireland, America... etc And it's very interesting what foreign people do traditionally.
